Q) I have gone on the employment and logged in several times to try and do this but now it is having some issues. I cannot wait and I thought it would have been mailed to me as well but never received it. I am a little frustrated as I am 75 and really need to get this done so I can pay my bills.
A) I understand your frustration in accessing your 1099-G information and wanting to file your taxes. Unfortunately, I am unable to send emails containing sensitive information like tax documents. However, I can help you explore other options for obtaining your 1099-G and offer solutions for filing your taxes:
Obtaining your 1099-G:
- Check your online account again: Double-check the website or app of the issuer of your 1099-G (likely your state unemployment office or the IRS). Sometimes technical issues get resolved, and you might be able to access your information now.
- Contact the issuer by phone: Call the issuer’s customer service line directly. Explain your situation and ask for assistance accessing your 1099-G electronically.
- Request a mailed copy: If electronic access is unavailable, request a mailed copy of your 1099-G. Explain your circumstances and express your urgency in receiving it.
- Seek help from a local agency: Contact your local Area Agency on Aging or similar community organization. They might assist you in navigating the online system or contacting the issuer on your behalf.
Filing your taxes:
- Consider free tax filing services: If your income is below a certain threshold, you might qualify for free tax filing services offered by the IRS or non-profit organizations. These services can guide you through the process and ensure accurate filing.
- Seek help from a tax professional: If you feel overwhelmed or uncomfortable filing your taxes independently, consider consulting a tax professional. They can review your 1099-G and complete your return for a fee.
