I had an interview for UI on 12/13/2013, what is the next step?

unemployed_personQ) I had an interview on 12/13/2013 for approval of my request for unemployment insurance.
I had been terminated from my longstanding years work position.
It has been a week now and I have not been contacted about approval
for UI. I filed to certify online on 12/13//2013. What is the next step? Thank you. Sheila

A) According to the Federal Department of Labor website you can expect your first unemployment check two or three weeks after you apply so long as you have submitted all of the required information. For some states there is usually a waiting period of one week between the time you become unemployed and when you are eligible for benefits. This means you won’t receive an unemployment check during the first week you are out of work. You can also call or visit your local unemployment office and speak with a counselor regarding how long it will take to get your application approved. Once approved you will get a notification in the mail with instructions on how to certify during the weeks you are out of work.

  1. I have not worked in nine years. I keep getting letters from Michigan Dept of Labor saying they are offering me more unemployment money, You can’t go to their office, it seems to be closed, you can’t talk to anyone on the phone, you just get a recording telling you to go online and appeal to get more benefits.
I mailed in and emailed in and faxed in fraud reports, I get back a nice letter telling me how to file to get more benefits.
Now I get a 1099 for $5,500.00 that I am supposed to pay tax on.
So I sent another fraud report and today I get a letter from them saying I am approved for more benefits and how to appeal their decision and try to get een more benefits.
I have received no money from them, I asked where they were sending the money, no reply. They have my address to send me info on getting more benefits, so where are they sending the money?
China? Russia? This is pure insanity.
