Q) I am not able to get my unemployment benefit because of someone mistake. I have been doing my part correctly, in timely manner and taking all the required steps according to your information and letters. Ever since my employment with company ended due contract expiration on 04/20/2023, I am trying to reopen my unemployment benefit. After several weeks with explanation “not eligible” I stopped filing the claim, and tried to reopen again on 06/30/2023. unfortunately, I am getting the same message. Here is time line: I have filed for unemployment 12/05/2022, started receiving the benefit and actively searching for the job. On Dec 28/2022, I got letter from you, giving me 2 weeks for scheduling and participating in RESEA program. I have scheduled only available time for virtual CCS MASSHIRE Merrimac Valley Career Center on 01/12/2023 at 8:15am. In the meantime I got job on Jan 06, 2023. I have attended this session, explain the Linda my situation, and to avoid problems with my future benefits, filled up the 9 forms, assessment and resume and emailed to her the same day. According to your letter, someone should schedule with me review the documents before 01/27/2023. Instead on 01/30/2023 you send me a letter about disqualification. The same day, I visited local Mass Hire office, and with the agent resubmitted all my paperwork again. Obviously, you did not take in consideration any of my effort to complete RESEA program. I called DUA on 05/08/2023, waited for more than hour, explain agent my case, and line was broken, visited local office again, and nothing. Please assist me how to resolve my case. This is not my fault, and I deserve to get unemployment benefit on which I am entitled for. Thank you for your assistance in advance.

A) I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve been experiencing with your unemployment benefits. I don’t have direct access to government agencies or your specific case details. However, I can provide some general advice on how to proceed in resolving this issue:

  1. Contact the Unemployment Office: Continue trying to reach the unemployment office via phone and visit their local office if possible. It’s essential to speak with a representative directly to explain your situation and inquire about the reasons for the disqualification.
  2. Gather Evidence: Make sure to have all relevant documentation and evidence supporting your case. This includes records of your RESEA program attendance, email communication, and any other relevant paperwork related to your unemployment claim.
  3. File an Appeal: If your unemployment benefits were denied, you should have received information on how to file an appeal. If not, contact the unemployment office and ask for the appeal process. Submit your appeal in a timely manner and include all relevant evidence to support your claim.
  4. Seek Legal Assistance: If you encounter further difficulties or feel that your appeal is not being adequately addressed, consider seeking legal assistance. Some regions offer free legal aid to individuals dealing with unemployment benefit issues.
  5. Patience and Persistence: Resolving issues with unemployment benefits can be a lengthy and frustrating process. Be patient, but don’t give up. Continue following up with the unemployment office, keep records of your communications, and stay persistent in your efforts to resolve the matter.
  6. Stay Informed: Keep yourself updated with any changes in unemployment policies or procedures. Sometimes, rules and regulations can change, affecting your eligibility.

Remember that each unemployment case is unique, and specific guidelines may vary depending on your location and the relevant agency handling your benefits. Make sure to address your concerns directly with the appropriate authorities for the most accurate and up-to-date information on your case.
