A) Unemployment compensation generally includes any amounts received under the unemployment compensation laws of the United States or of a state. If you received unemployment benefits during the last year, you should receive a your 1099-G Tax Form “Certain Government Payments” from your state unemployment office. This form lists the total amount of unemployment benefit compensation you received during the past year. The IRS considers unemployment compensation to be taxable income which you must report on your federal tax return. For some states you can you can now obtain your 1099-G online on your state unemployment office website. Just log-in to use the option to View and Print your 1099-G Income Tax Statement. If you are unable to obtain your 1099-G Tax Form online, please call our visit your local unemployment office and request a copy.
