I was laid off due to lack of work. What do I need to do to enroll in unemployment?

Q) I am 5 months (23 weeks) pregnant. I was laid off due to lack of work at the job and they needed to cut hours and pay. What do I need to do to enroll in unemployment and what are the requirements for keeping unemployment?

A) To receive unemployment benefits, you need to file your unemployment benefits claim in the state where you worked. You will need to contact contact your state’s unemployment insurance program as soon as possible after becoming unemployed. In most states you can file your claim online without having to visit your local unemployment office. When you file a claim, you will be asked information, such as your addresses and employment history. It is very important that you provide accurate information in order to not cause delay in the processing of your claim.
