Q) the status of my claim is ‘filed’ on June 18th. I can see that the type of benefit is unemployment insurance, there is a $ value in the claim balance remaining in addition to a $ value for the Weekly Benefit Rate. I do not have any UI appointments scheduled and I have been certifying for the past 2-3 weeks and I receive the confirmation email that my weekly benefit is not payable at this time but I will receive credit the week as I certified for. I did receive two separate emails for additional information which both were completed and sent back, I received email confirmation as they were received on June 30th. Every time I call the local office I get the message that the call volume is to large and call back tomorrow. Can someone please help? I did receive via US Mail essentially the same info I see when I view my dashboard. I really need top get my part completed if needed as I need my weekly benefit monies. Also, will my first direct deposit include the weeks that I received credit for as per the email confirmation that I receive after I certify for the week.

A) Based on the information you have provided, it sounds like your claim is still being processed by the New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL). The fact that your claim status is “Filed” and you have a $ value in the claim balance remaining and Weekly Benefit Rate indicates that your claim is eligible for benefits. However, the fact that you are receiving the confirmation email that your weekly benefit is not payable at this time suggests that there is some additional information that the NJDOL needs from you in order to process your claim.

You mentioned that you have already submitted the additional information that the NJDOL requested. If you have not received any further communication from the NJDOL, I would recommend that you continue to certify for benefits each week. You should also check your email and mail regularly for any updates from the NJDOL.

If you have not received your first direct deposit within 2-3 weeks of certifying for benefits, you can contact the NJDOL’s Contact Center at 1-800-652-HELP (4357). The Contact Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Here are some additional tips that may help you get your claim processed more quickly:

  • Make sure that you have all of the required documentation, such as your most recent pay stubs and W-2 forms.
  • Be sure to answer all of the questions on the unemployment claim form completely and accurately.
  • If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the NJDOL’s Contact Center.

I wish you the best of luck with your claim.
