I recently filed for GA unemployment online but have not heard anything back. I was let go from my job back on May 29, 2023. What do I need to do now?

A) It is normal to not hear back from the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) immediately after filing for unemployment benefits. The GDOL typically takes 21 days or more to process a claim. However, if it has been more than 21 days since you filed your claim and you have not heard anything back, you can do the following:

Check the status of your claim online. You can do this by logging into your MyUI account on the GDOL website.
Contact the GDOL by phone. The GDOL’s customer service number is 1-800-245-2770.
Visit a GDOL career center. You can find a list of career centers on the GDOL website.
When you contact the GDOL, be sure to have your claim number and your Social Security number ready. The GDOL representative will be able to tell you the status of your claim and answer any questions you have.

If you are still not able to get a response from the GDOL, you can reapply for unemployment benefits. You can do this by filing a new claim online or by visiting a career center.
