I filed for GA unemployment benefits 2 weeks ago. Mt claim has been denied. I believe it is wrong. I have worked my whole life & I don’t understand why it’s been denied. I have called numerous times and it’s busy.
I’m sorry to hear that your unemployment claim has been denied. I understand that this can be a frustrating and stressful situation.
There are a few reasons why your claim might have been denied. Here are some of the most common reasons:
You may not have met the eligibility requirements for unemployment benefits. For example, you may not have earned enough wages in the base period.
You may have been fired for misconduct. This means that you were fired for a reason that is considered to be your fault, such as violating company policy or being dishonest.
You may have quit your job without good cause. This means that you quit your job for a reason that is not considered to be justified, such as because you were unhappy with your job or because you found a new job.
If you believe that your claim was denied in error, you have the right to appeal the decision. You can appeal your claim by filing a written appeal with the Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL). If you need more help with your appeal, you can contact the Georgia Department of Labor UI Appeals Tribunal by phone at 877-709-8185 and say “Appeals” or by email at appeals@gdol.ga.gov You can find more information about the appeal process on the GDOL website.
Here are some tips for appealing your unemployment claim:
Be sure to file your appeal within 15 days of the date on the claim determination letter.
Explain why you believe your claim was denied in error.
Provide any supporting documentation, such as letters from your former employer or copies of your employment records.
Be clear and concise in your appeal.
The GDOL will review your appeal and make a decision. If your appeal is successful, you will be awarded benefits. If your appeal is denied, you may be able to appeal the decision
