Did not receive NJ Unemployment Insurance for the week of 8/27. I was sent a email that says the responses I provided require manual review. I’m not sure if that’s because I said I am not attending school anymore. I responded with “No” because I passed and received my CDL-A. Please let me know what is going on and when I will receive this payment.

A) I understand your concern. The email you received means that the New Jersey Division of Unemployment Insurance (NJDOL) needs to review your claim manually. This could be because of a number of reasons, including the fact that you said you are not attending school anymore.

The NJDOL may need to verify your education status with your school. They may also need to review your work search activities to make sure that you are meeting the requirements for unemployment benefits.

The processing time for manual reviews can vary, but it is typically 4-6 weeks. You will receive an email notification once your claim has been processed.

In the meantime, you can continue to certify for benefits each week. You can also check the status of your claim online at the NJDOL website.

I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Here are some additional things you can do to speed up the processing of your claim:

  • Make sure that you have provided all of the required information on your claim.
  • Respond promptly to any requests for additional information from the NJDOL.
  • Keep a copy of all of your correspondence with the NJDOL.

If you have any questions about the status of your claim, you can contact the NJDOL at 1-800-622-6294. You can also visit one of their local offices.

I hope you receive your payment soon.
