Been on bed rest, never filed for unemployment, any options?
Q) I’m in need of unemployment assistance. I work for cspire in Gulfport and I have been on bed rest since February 15th of this year 2015. I’ve never filed for unemployment here in the state of Mississippi and wanted to know if I had any options. could you contact me at your earliest convenience at 2** 6** 5***. thank you very much
A) If you are unable to perform the skills needed for a job similar to your last one, you’re not eligible for unemployment benefits. An example of this may be an expecting mother who is put on bed rest. In this case, you would need to file for disability insurance instead of unemployment. You may also be eligible for Family Leave Programs.
Usually If you are sick and on on bed rest you are generally not entitled to unemployment insurance benefits. You should be able to file after being well. if you have completed your state required work hours. The general requirement for unemployment insurance benefits is:
Have received enough wages during the base period to establish a claim.
Be totally or partially unemployed.
Be unemployed through no fault of his/her own.
Be physically able to work.
Be available for work which means to be ready and willing to immediately accept work.
Be actively looking for work.
Meet eligibility requirements each week benefits are claimed.
Be approved for training before training benefits can be paid.
Due to the fact the each state administrates their unemployment benefit program differently and has different eligibility requirements it’s always best to visit your state website to view that information. After viewing the eligibility requirements you can (on some State’s Unemployment Website) file your claim online. https://unemploymentoffice.us/unemployment-eligibility-requirements-state/
I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
