I have been employed with my company for 2 yrs and 5 mths. I am currently on restrictions from my doctor and am unable to do my job with the restristions. I called my employer to see if they could get FMLA papers for me to fill out. My employer stated I was not eligible for FMLA until July because I had filed a year ago in July. I asked if I’d still have my job and she told me I would have to reapply and they would see if they had a position for me. I had been in contact with my boss through texts and I was never told I was terminated. I was only informed of this when I called about FMLA papers. Would I be eligible for unemployment benefits?
In order to qualify for employment insurance benefits you must be available to work before eligibility for the unemployment insurance benefits begins. Every state imposes these basic requirements. Physically ready and able to work. Actively seeking a new jobs. Willing to accept suitable offers that comes your way. You may want to look at qualifying for short term disability.
