Please contact you local unemployment office on how to pay back your over payment. If you are still gettng unemployment benefits your state will reduce your check by the amount you owe until the complete amount is paid Keep in mind that it is possible to get a waver – If you got benefits because of a mistake, you can ask for a waiver.
When should I apply for a waiver?
You should ask for a waiver as soon as you get a notice that you must repay the benefits you received.
I have recently transferred from Japan with my husband, who was my sponsor at his last command.
My husband PCS’d (permanent change of duty station) two weeks ago. I was employed for over two years as a federal employee in Japan and since my husband had to transfer, I too had to transfer with him due to having no SOFA status. I did not resign from my job nor was I fired. I currently am actively seeking work but would like to claim unemployment benefit. Please advice how to apply.
Thank you for your efforts and assistance.
