I contacted TCAT, they said they had no online courses. The course was paid for by the state.

Q) I received Unemployment a few years back, and during that time I was enrolled in a class to prepare me for the A plus test so I could begin a career in Cyber Security, a year long online program through TCAT in Dickson that would allow me to finish early if I paced myself right. During that time I had several stressful situations, Stress, Heath problems, and my Mother passed away. I read that the course allowed for me to pause and just restart when I was ready. But when I tried, my efforts to restart did not work and after several attempts I simply gave up. Fast forward to today. I figured I could just pick up where I left off with TN Reconnect. But when I contacted TCAT, they said they had no online courses. I already have the books and I only signed in long enough to read the syllabus. The course was paid for by the state in advance, but I was never allowed to take it. Can someone please investigate this for me and let me know if anything can be done? I’m 59 years old, I work Full time, so this online course is my last chance at a career. I just moved back to Nashville hoping for a fresh start with a new career, thinking I could find this course, and this has been a major set back. Since the course has already been paid for, I would really like to just be able to finish. My Name Is Charles

A) I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’ve experienced with your online course and the loss of your mother. I understand how important this course is to you, especially at this stage of your life.

I don’t have the ability to investigate your specific situation, but I can offer some guidance on what steps you can take.

First, I recommend reaching out to the Tennessee Reconnect program and explain your situation to them. They may be able to provide you with information on what options are available to you. You can contact them by calling 1-800-342-1663 or by visiting their website at https://www.tnreconnect.gov/.

Here are a few other things you can do:

  1. Contact TCAT and ask them why you were not able to restart your course.
  2. Check with TN Reconnect to see if they can help you find a similar course that you can complete.
  3. Look for other online courses that you may be able to take to prepare for the A+ test.

If you’re unable to resolve the issue through the Tennessee Reconnect program, you can also try reaching out to the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) in Dickson directly to see if they can provide any assistance or information on the course you were enrolled in. You can find their contact information on their website at https://tcatdickson.edu/contact.

Finally, you may want to consider seeking assistance from a career counselor or job placement service in your area. They may be able to provide guidance on other training programs or job opportunities that can help you achieve your career goals.

I hope this information is helpful to you, and I wish you the best in your pursuit of a fulfilling career.
