If your company has a down week, Do you claim it for the previous Week?

Q) If your company has a down week With a holiday in it. The following Week being Monday you go back to work they ask you to come in 2Hrs early. Their policy is That the hrs in b4 regular schedule shift on Monday is considered Week b4. But the employment office Work week ends sat or sun for Previous week. Technically it is during the week it is worked. Do you claim it for the previous Week? It’s just their policy which Should be paid the week its worked

A) I would claim the hours for the week that they were worked. The employment office’s work week may end on Saturday or Sunday, but your company’s work week is different. If you work hours on Monday, they should be paid for the week that they were worked, not the previous week.

Your company’s policy is not in line with the employment office’s policy, and it is unfair to you. You should not have to lose out on pay because of your company’s policy.

If you are concerned about your pay, you should talk to your supervisor. Explain that you understand the company’s policy, but that you believe that you should be paid for the hours that you worked, not the previous week. If your supervisor is not willing to change the policy, you may want to consider talking to your human resources department.

You may also want to consider contacting your state’s labor department. They may be able to help you understand your rights and options.

After you apply for unemployment benefits, you must file a weekly claim the next week in order to begin receiving benefits. Then, you must file a claim each week until you want your benefits to stop. You must be unemployed through no fault of your own and have accumulated your states qualifying prior working hours.
